Star trek resurgence hotari or alydians11/30/2023 ![]() Your actions won’t suddenly create a new storyline. How much influence you have over the narrative is in doubt, as is the case with most games like this. Rydek’s chapters were maybe more essential to the narrative, but the Diaz side of Star Trek Resurgence is what made it a three-dimensional tale.Įven in the universe of Star Trek, you never quite leave high school. I enjoyed role-playing as both characters and felt they were both worthy of being centered in the narrative, although I do wish Rydek and Diaz interacted together more over the course of the game. His relationships are more personal than professional, which make for great conflict throughout the game. Sure, I may have preferred the more diplomatic sections as Rydek, but Diaz’s sections provided a much-needed POV that was separate from the usually bridge-focused stories. Star Trek Resurgence does as good a job as anyone at mitigating this problem by making both Rydek’s and Diaz’s POVs both so engaging and fun. Some people will always prefer one protagonist over another and will groan whenever they have to read, watch, or play through a section as a character that’s not their favorite. His friendship with Petty Officer Nili Edsilar and a potential romantic relationship with Petty Officer Miranda Maris are given heavy focus in his sections and are what make them so appealing.Īn occasional problem with multi-POV stories is they won’t be able to please all audiences. Things aren’t as they seem, and Diaz’s discoveries are crucial to uncovering the mysteries present in the narrative. ![]() While Rydek is on a diplomatic mission, Diaz is mainly tasked with investigating the ionic storm the Resolute has been caught in. Petty Officer Carter Diaz is Star Trek Resurgence ’s second POV. You won’t play the whole game as XO Rydek, however. Trying to negotiate during a diplomatic mission while mysterious machinations go on behind the scenes is exactly what I’d want out of a Star Trek game, and Resurgence delivers in spades.īalancing diplomacy, personal feelings, and your colleague’s goals is at the core of Resurgence‘s choices. That the Alydians possess a trade agreement with Starfleet only adds an intriguing layer of conflict to the proceedings. They’re in conflict over control of dilithium-rich mines, and the Federation has been brought in as a neutral third-party to oversee negotiations. The plot revolves around a tenuous peace between two different civilizations, the Hotari and the Alydians. (The game acts like Ambassador Spock joining is a big reveal, but he was included in some of the earliest marketing materials.) You’ll quickly learn that trying to keep everyone pleased is going to be impossible and instead you’ll focus on making your version of Rydek true to what you want her to be. I won’t forget how disappointed in myself I was when I panicked on a dialogue choice and caused Ambassador Spock to express displeasure in my decision. This is a recurring plotline throughout the game, and I loved how nothing was ever cut and dry, black and white – whatever decision Rydek chose was bound to upset someone, including Captain Solano. ![]() Depending on what you decide to do and say as Rydek, Solano will either gain trust in Rydek or question why he brought her aboard. He feels under pressure to prove himself and make up for the accident in the eyes of Starfleet command, meaning he’ll try to dictate Rydek’s actions. Her relationship with Captain Solano starts off precariously. Through your dialogue decisions and actions as Rydek, you’ll begin to mold what kind of character she is and how others perceive her in a way anyone who’s played a Telltale game before will be familiar with. She has to earn the trust of her new crewmates, including the captain of the Resolute. After an accident killed almost two dozen Resolute crew members a few months ago, including the former XO, Rydek enters a precarious situation. It expertly captures what makes Star Trek so wonderful and lets you pilot a fantastic narrative by putting you in the uniforms of two well-crafted characters. Dramatic Labs, a debut developer composed of former Telltale Games developers, looks to change that with Star Trek Resurgence. ![]() Star Trek is one of the most popular media franchises around, and yet it hasn’t yet made its mark in the world of video games. ![]() Opening dybbuk box11/30/2023 ![]() ![]() ![]() It took a while to build up a story, which could have done a lot more with its context of dismissing the change of the child's behaviour because of the psychological pressures in dealing with her parents' divorce, but this never really quite took off. Instead, the focus was on building atmospherics through the use of creepy crawlies, and he succeeded to an extent in doing that. Credit must be given when credit is due, so Danish director Ole Bornedal did what he could in avoiding the usual clichés of slamming doors and jump scares. And for those who object her bout of violent behaviour, especially when becoming possessive and protective of the mysterious box, even stranger things happen, and her unusual behaviour soon triggers Clyde to do some sleuthing of his own. ![]() Make up also helped to make her look her zombie best, coupled with fans borrowed from a Bollywood studio to let her hair fly around when the air around is still. Em becomes possessed and Natasha Calis almost got a chance to be the next Linda Blair in The Exorcist, except that The Possession minus all the kinky moves that would make parents frown and grown ups blush. Opening Pandora's Box is also something nobody should do, and when done, welcomes a whole lot of trouble. Warning lights are probably flashing now, since stories of old have already warned never to pick up strange looking objects from anywhere and bringing them home. As part of moving in, they pick up extra dishes at someone's backyard jumble sale, and Em gets attracted to a mysterious box, which gets bought and brought home. The arrangements seem pretty well oiled, with Clyde having moved to another house of his own conveniently located in a new neighbourhood. It introduced the characters of a dysfunctional family, where Clyde (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) has already divorced from wife Stephanie (Kyra Sedgwick), with the former getting only the weekends to spend time with daughters Hannah (Madison Davenport) and Em (Natasha Calis). So is it any good, given that the trailer essentially told the entire story from beginning to end? It got better as it moved along, and really tested your patience in the first half of the film since it really took a long time before a turn of events leading to the first boo. Still, for the curious, you may want to look up an article called Jinx in a Box written by Leslie Gornstein, which the events in this film is purportedly based on. Moreover, having to state the events took place in less than a month, seemed a little bit far fetched, given how the screenplay played things out, which made it look like months instead. I'm a little bit wary when a horror film touts itself as based on a true story, because one can only take that with a pinch of salt, given that it's a film after all, and there's a need to dress it up for the silver screen and for dramatic purposes. ![]() Majority backs nuclear time since fukushima11/30/2023 ![]() Radiation from the damaged nuclear plant leaked into the sea, prompting authorities to suspend fishing operations off the coast of three prefectures that had previously provided Japan with half of its catch. It’s a ritual he’s repeated for more than a decade since a devastating earthquake and tsunami triggered a nuclear meltdown at the Fukushima Daiichi power plant in 2011, spewing deadly radioactive particles into the surrounding area. First, he’ll test his catch for radiation. Before the Fukushima meltdowns, about a third of its power generation came from nuclear, but in 2020 the figure was less than 5%.It is still morning when Kinzaburo Shiga, 77, returns to Onahama port after catching a trawler full of fish off Japan’s eastern coast.īut the third-generation fisherman won’t head straight to market. Japan has set a target for nuclear power generation to account for 20-22% of its electricity supply in 2030. Plants can operate for up to 40 years in principle, but can continue generating electricity for another 20 years if they undergo safety upgrades and pass screenings conducted by regulators. The government will also consider extending the lifespan of existing reactors beyond the legal limit by excluding the period they remained shut down – in some cases several years – when calculating their operating time. Some areas near the plant remain off-limits, while others have only recently reopened to residents. The 2011 disaster sent huge quantities of radiation into the atmosphere and forced tens of thousands of people to flee their homes. Restarting the plant would be particularly controversial, since it is run by Tokyo Electric Power, the same company that operates Fukushima Daiichi. Dozens of others are still going through a relicensing process under stricter safety standards introduced after the 2011 disaster, which some experts blamed on the “ nuclear village” of operators, politicians and regulators.Ī bigger role for nuclear in Japan’s energy mix could see seven additional reactors being restarted after next summer, including two at Kashiwazaki-Kariwa, the biggest nuclear plant in the world. Seven reactors are currently in operation, with three others offline for regular safety inspections. “It is the first step towards the normalisation of Japan’s energy policy,” said Jun Arima, a project professor at the Tokyo University’s graduate school of public policy. The country is heavily dependent on imported fossil fuels. Officials believe voters have become more receptive to nuclear power due to rising fuel costs and after an energy crunch in Tokyo during a recent heatwave. Kishida conceded that the government would have to win support from the public, which turned against nuclear power in the wake of the Fukushima meltdown. ![]() From that perspective, we will also consider all options regarding nuclear power.” The economy and industry minister, Yasutoshi Nishimura, said it was “extremely important to secure all options to redesign a stable energy supply for our country. ![]() “To overcome an imminent crisis caused of a power supply crunch, we must take the utmost steps to mobilise all possible policies in the coming years and prepare for any emergency.” “Russia’s invasion of Ukraine has vastly transformed the world’s energy landscape … Japan needs to bear in mind potential crisis scenarios,” he said at an energy policy meeting this week. If realised, Kishida’s plans would mark a dramatic reversal of that stance. Most of Japan’s nuclear plants have remained idle ever since, while the government said it would not build new reactors or replace ageing reactors, fearing a public backlash. ![]() Successive governments have been forced to lower Japan’s dependence on nuclear since the March 2011 disaster, when a powerful tsunami destroyed Fukushima Daiichi’s backup electricity supply, causing three of its six reactors to suffer meltdowns. ![]() Password generator words11/30/2023 ![]() ![]() This word list is derived mechanically from `12Dicts `_ by Alan Beale. This means that within the operating system of the VM you can add a disk upto 400GB in size. With thin provisioning you can create a vmdk with an x amount of storage for a vm, let's say in your case 400GB. storage, Virtual Center, VMware alarm, datastore, free space.I am not quite sure of all the details here, but looking at first glance I would guess it has to do with the disk being Thin Provisioned. See the table below: Datastore SizeĪs you can see you’ll have to be a little creative with the numbers to get the warnings the way you want them. In the current situation you have to work with % of the total size of the datastore and especially with large datastores this can be quite a challenge, especially since you can only enter integers and no decimals. You could than just set a GB value and it would be equal to all datastores. In the next version of vCenter I do hope VMware makes a change and enables the use of GB on this alarm instead of just a percentage. I should warn you though… my friend Duco Jaspars tipped me about this KB article: “ Defining alarms on datastore folders can cause vCenter Server 4.x to becomes unresponsive“, although I have not yet ran into this issue with the customers were I implemented this. See how the next image gives you much less alarms and only shows warnings and alarms on datastores that really are below 40GB. ![]() The alarms you see are now “real” alarms that really require your attention. This will give you a much better view of your datastores and alarms. There is an easier way, you can create folders and assign alarms to folders and move datastores of the same size into these folders. Unfortunately in most environments, not all datastores are equal in size and you would have to change the alarm on each datastore. ![]() ![]() Those 40GB free space I would like to monitor through my vCenter alarms which is very easy if all datastores would be equal in size, you could than edit the default alarm to reflect the new % settings. Usually these 40GB can accomodate enough snapshot space during nightly backups and storage migrations to prevent the datastore from filling up. In general I use as a rule of thumb a required free space per datastore of 40GB. In most cases this is much too soon as the next image shows you. These false alarms happen because the default values right out of the box are set at 75% for a warning to trigger and 85% for an alarm to trigger. When I show them the datastore overview in the VI Client that shows the warnings and alerts for the datastores, it turns out that they don’t often look at this page because it gives too many false alarms. When visiting customers I noticed that the VMware admin often doesn’t really know how much free space is left on the datastores and wether action is needed to free up space or get extra capacity. ![]() Lollipop chainsaw art11/30/2023 ![]() Yasuda’s original announcement of the remake sought to minimize Suda’s contribution to the game beyond the initial pitch. The development team might also find that tastes have moved on since 2012. This might be controversial, as the original’s semi-cel-shaded look was part of its trashy charm. There will also be a “more realistic approach” to the game’s graphics. By the 1950s, it was being served in bars across Japan - most notably in the form of a highball. This is when the first Suntory whisky distillery was born in Yamazaki.
